The last ever Trevornick 10...

The final ever Trevornick 10 miler...the only multi-terrain inclusion in the Cornish Road-running Grand Prix Series! Warm sunshine beat down on us at the start line, then following a briefing and observing a 1 minute silence for a Newquay Road Runner who had recently passed away, we were off. The first 2 miles are fairly fast, undulating on grass and track across a golf course, then the hills start. Not as bad as the Looe 10 miler, but the number and off-road nature make them almost as hard. The route follows sections of coast path and inland trails, often very narrow and accompanied by uneven ground or sand, but the scenery is fantastic throughout the coastal sections. A number of beautiful sandy beaches are passed and the combination of blue sky and blue sea made for some stunning inspiration whilst running. I didn't feel like I performed to my optimum in this tough race today, but it's a shame this race won't be on the calendar next year...although it really should be swapped into the multi-terrain race series and substituted with a race like Race for Wildlife...
